Almaty FabLab

History of Fab Lab

The idea of Fab Lab arose in the early 2000s at MIT

The idea of Fab Lab emerged in the early 2000s at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Professor Neil Gershenfeld's course, How to Make (Almost) Anything.

The project quickly expanded beyond the university and became a global movement: in 2001, the first official Fab Lab was opened at MIT in the Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA).

Today, Fab Lab is an international network of laboratories united by the idea of free access to technology for education, creativity, and social development.
